The experiences during the long Expat-stays and travels abroad are sometimes overpowering.

The solitude during the weeks of travelling through the desert, the Milky-Way which seems to fall down on you when the light of the campfire is gone and the moon lost.

The Suba-Diving, the Wadi-Bashing, the Pilots training....., the intensity from all these experiences leave an emotional print which is turned into stories and sketches, who at a later stage are made and brought to life again in a painting.

The work becomes more abstract, places and events are not always recognisable. The reality is not visible anymore but still present through memories.

The paintings derive their character from texture, the layers of paint and the play with lines.

Layer on top of layer, after which scratching is used to bring old layers back to the surface again.

The symbolic circle stands for the infinity of the Universe, the humble feeling you get with that Milky-Way falling down on you.
